My final project, titled “Whispers of the Cypress: An Immersive Taiwan Forest Experience”, aims to create an interactive art exhibition that highlights Taiwan’s endemic cypress forests and emphasizes the importance of environmental conservation. This exhibition employs a multi-sensory approach, incorporating visual, auditory, and olfactory elements to foster a deeper connection between the visitors and the natural environment. The goal is to provide an engaging experience that not only educates but also inspires action towards ecological preservation.

Through extensive research on Taiwan’s red cypress forests, I produced the film “Whispers of the Cypress: A Journey through Taiwan’s Cypress Forests,” aiming to convey both the beauty and the threats faced by these unique forests.

Inspired by Impressionist art and my deepened research into Taiwan’s cypress forests, I used creative coding to transform my photographs taken in Taiwan’s Red Cypress forests into an immersive projection piece titled “Cypress Image.”

As French philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau once said, “Smell is the sense of memory and desire.” By offering an olfactory experience of Taiwan’s forest scent, I hope to evoke emotional responses and deepen viewers’ memories.

This project has not only honed my design skills but also provided a sense of accomplishment, particularly seeing my work displayed at the interim exhibition. It exemplifies my commitment to exploring the intersection of traditional and digital publishing, aiming to create compelling and immersive reader experiences.

The exhibition setup is in progress, with the opening scheduled for the evening of September 4th.
